Seriously, when did this happen?

I’ve been pretty lucky because I’ve collected RC cars for years. Some I bought new, some were good deals at the time, and more than a few were bought with the classic promise of “I’ll get around to that project someday.”

Apparently someday is going to be busy.

But lately I’ve been looking around at used RC cars and I just don’t get it.

I understand wanting to get your money back out of something. But when a used RC car has been absolutely bashed, needs work, and the asking price is starting to creep toward what a new one costs, I’m left wondering:

Why wouldn’t I just buy the new one?

Maybe I’m getting old. Maybe I remember prices being better than they actually were. Or maybe the RC market really has changed that much.

Either way, I’m suddenly feeling a whole lot better about all those future projects sitting around my garage.

What about you guys? Are you still finding good deals on used RC cars, or have prices gotten a little crazy where you are too?
